Accessibility

We are committed to providing an accessible attraction, and we strive to ensure that all visitors can enjoy as much of our magnificent grounds as possible.

Many of our paths are hardcore but we also have woodchipped paths due to the nature of the woodland, which are tough but not impossible for wheelchairs and prams to use.

For Snowdrop visitors, there are accessible routes to the snowdrop wood and also to the heated marquee and gift shop, please ask a member of staff for directions. Accessible toilets are located opposite the heated marquee. We have baby changing facilities at the toilet block next to the giraffe statues by the side of the main house.

For Spectacle of Light visitors, the trail is predominatly woodchipped due to the nature of the terrain, which can be tough going for some wheelchair users, especially during wet weather. Accessible toilets are located at the food village on the front lawn. We have baby changing facilities at the toilet block next to the giraffe statues by the side of the main house.

For both Snowdrops and Spectacle of Light, there is disabled parking available opposite the front gates. Our road crossing officers will be able to direct you and assist you to cross the road.

We have collaborated with Nimbus Disability, utilising their Access Card Scheme and Digital Access Pass system to provide customers with a more consistent and improved experience when accessing necessary support. Ticket holders with an Access Card (or Digital Access Pass) providing for essential companions are able to add a free Essential Companion ticket. This facility is available to customers who require additional support or assistance as a result of a disability or long-term health condition, as defined by the Equality Act (2010). By accepting this ticket your companion, who must be aged over 16, accepts responsibility for providing the additional support you require to access our venue and services, including in an emergency situation or evacuation and must be capable and available to provide this support throughout your visit. For more information, please go to our Nimbus Access Card tab in the FAQs.

If you have any other questions, or wish to arrange any additional support for your visit please email contact@welfordpark.co.uk

When is Welford Park open to the public?

Welford Park is a private working farm and house and is not open to the public all year round. Please look at our Opening Times page for more details.

Do you serve food and drink?

During the snowdrops season, our heated marquee, which is especially suitable for those with dogs and children is open from 11:00 a.m. serving homemade cakes, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and juices. Lunches are served from 12:00 p.m. We take great trouble to source locally what we cannot provide ourselves.

During Spectacle of Light, we will have local food trucks serving delicious gourmet hot food and savoury treats. There will also be a covered bar serving soft and alcoholic drinks.

Are dogs allowed?
Friendly dogs are welcome but must be kept on their leads at all times. Dogs are also welcome in the heated marquee.

We also ask that dogs leave nothing behind and please put used bags in the bins.

Is Parking Free?

Parking for our events is complimentary, ensuring a hassle-free experience for our guests. However, please note some events that are organised by outside production companies may have parking fees. To avoid any surprises, we recommend checking the specific event information for details on parking arrangements.

On arrival, please follow the signs and the staff will show you where to park.

Do I need to book?

We always recommend to pre-book your tickets, to make things easier for you including faster entry, one quick scan and you will be through the gates. Advanced booking is via our website (don’t miss out on early bird deals!) or alternatively we do take cash/card payments at the ticket office on the day.

I would like to bring a coach party to visit
We limit the number of coaches we take each day so it is very important that you book in advance.

Coaches are allocated an arrival time and payment is required in advance of arrival. Please either telephone, (during office hours) 01488 608691 or email contact@welfordpark.co.uk

How are the Snowdrops looking?

Snowdrops are one of the earliest signs of spring and their delicate beauty is shaped entirely by nature. Each year the snowdrop’s life cycle begins beneath the soil, where bulbs lie dormant through the summer and autumn. As temperatures drop in winter, roots begin to develop and by late January the first green shoots may start to appear above ground.

Flowering follows soon after, with blooms reaching their peak at different times depending on weather conditions. Mild winters can encourage earlier displays, while colder temperatures may delay flowering. Once in bloom, snowdrops usually last for several weeks before gradually fading as spring approaches, returning their energy to the bulb ready for the following year.

At Welford Park our public opening season runs from the end of January to the end of February/beginning of March, when visitors can enjoy the snowdrops along with many other features of the gardens and grounds. However, as the snowdrop life cycle is entirely dependant on weather and other natural factors, we cannot guarantee peak flowering at any specific time during the season.

If your primary reason for visiting is to see the snowdrops, we strongly recommend checking our social media channels for the latest updates or calling our office to listen to our recorded “snowdrop watch” message before booking your tickets. This will help ensure your visit meets your expectations and avoids disappointment.

While the snowdrops are a highlight, there is much more to explore and enjoy during your visit, whatever stage the seaon may be at!
