Helpful Information when visiting the Snowdrops Woods at Welford Park

The Snowdrop Walk

To be able to open our gates and welcome visitors safely we are devising a one way system around the snowdrop woods.   When planning your visit to the snowdrop walk around the beech woods, paths along the River Lambourn and the formal gardens with the Galanthus cultivars we recommend a minimum of one hour and two for more of an amble !    We do have one hard core path marked for wheelchairs users but this will have to be 2 way for those with wheels.   There is one section of river path however which we recommend for sure footed walkers and access is through a kissing gate.  The river bridges in this section should be treated with respect,  They are quite safe, but the river is deeper here.

Free Car Park

We ask you to park with concern for others and keep to the marked rows.  Please drive very slowly and be aware of children and dogs.  Car parking is free of charge and cars are parked entirely at your own risk.  From the car park please follow the clearly marked path keeping in the correct lane to ensure the one way system is working !  Once you reach the open field you will see roped lanes and the marshals with their QR readers.  From here you will be seen safely across the road and into Welford Park.

Disabled Access

Parking for Blue Badge holders is available close to the front gate, (follow the signs on the road).    There is one hard core path suitable for wheelchairs to go to the beech woods, but sadly due to the proximity of the river and water meadows it has been impossible to build hard paths all around the wood.      There is a ramp at the entrance to the Gift shop, but you may prefer to order on line in advance and take advantage of the Click & Collect.    Please ask for any assistance you may require.  The disable loo is near the access to St Gregory's Church.

The Gift Shop

Everything a snowdrop ! We pride ourselves on all our products having been made in the UK.   We have designed our own range of cotton aprons, tea towels, oven gloves, carrier bags, and china. A large range of greeting and post cards.    All the vegetables and fruit for the jams and chutneys are grown here in the Walled Garden.

Children - Must be supervised

We welcome children, but it is essential that they are supervised at all times.  We have a deep fast-moving river, ponds, and boggy water meadows.  Excellent for learning about nature, a variety of trees, the countryside at large and most importantly a space to just run and explore.  There is a baby changing room adjacent to the toilets near the giraffes !

Obviously at this time of year it can be very wet and muddy please wear waterproof footwear suitable for walking in woodland.

Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on their leads at all times.   We also ask that dogs leave nothing behind and you will be offered a little bag at the ticket kiosk on your arrival.  Please put used bags in the bins and do not leave in the hedgerow.  They take months and months to bio-degrade.

Please enjoy your visit to Welford Park  but leave it as you would want to find it.  Please put you rubbish in the bins provided.

Please note you are visiting a private home and an old-fashioned environment, internet and card facilities are limited.

We very much hope that you enjoy your visit
